On March 2, 1861
Nevada Territory was split from western Utah Territory, the eastern border was the 39th meridian west.

On October 31, 1864 Nevada Territory was admitted as the 36th state, Nevada.
The new state was a bit smaller than it is today, lacking area in both the east and south.
